Director of Land Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating project-related right-of-way acquisition and other land services efforts, including coordination with staff and consultants engaged in the same;
  • Managing right-of-way acquisition companies and other land services consultants;
  • Interacting with landowners, government agencies and other stakeholders on issues concerning right-of-way acquisition, pre-construction and construction related activities;
  • Acquiring land positions and right-of-way for the projects and handling related issues such as title, accounting and tax matters;
  • Assisting with securing local, state and federal approvals, licenses and permits for construction and operation of new transmission lines and associated facilities; and
  • Coordinating the title review of project due diligence efforts.

Preferred Skills/Experience

Direct experience in acquiring right-of-way and other performing other land services for linear infrastructure projects is required. The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in closely-related right-of-way acquisition and other land services, including title work, surveying and appraisals;
  • Experience in managing a right-of-way team and managing the acquisition of right-of-way for linear infrastructure projects;
  • Substantial experience in coordinating and implementing accounting procedures and handling compliance issues and tax filings related to right-of way acquisition;
  • Experience in the energy industry, especially with linear infrastructure projects such as transmission lines, pipelines etc.;
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently; and
  • Very strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
