Position Description

Clean Line Energy is looking for a Regional Outreach Manager for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line in Tennessee.

This position will work closely with internal and external public outreach efforts and will include direct contact with general public, speaking to local environmental, agricultural and social organizations, chambers of commerce and other local groups. This position will require regular travel in Tennessee and occasionally to Houston.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage development and implementation of outreach campaigns designed to solicit and maintain support for the development and permitting of a renewable energy transmission line which will be located in western Tennessee and deliver large scale wind energy to the Tennessee Valley Authority.
  • Speak to local groups and solicit support for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line
  • Help local citizens understand the benefits of transmission lines
  • Serve as a liaison to state and local officials on issues affecting the Plains & Eastern Clean Line
  • Ensure that outreach efforts support permitting and key milestones for the project
  • Track and report results of outreach efforts

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience should include developing, marketing, managing and executing communications plans, public relations, sales and/or new media projects
  • Strong communication skills (writing and public speaking)
  • Strong networking and business relationship skills
  • A self-starter with experience managing vendors and junior staff and a successful track record in developing and implementing grassroots campaigns
  • Ability to understand technical issues and communicate them effectively. Understanding of electric transmission and renewable energy issues a plus, but not required. Interest in renewable energy and infrastructure required
  • History of positive client relationships and commitment to quality
  • Flexibility – a team player, who can adapt to changing program needs
  • Working knowledge of computer and online tools, including social networking sites and Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effectiveness in building successful relationships with a broad group of stakeholders (all parties)
  • Deep familiarity with the local area, especially western Tennessee, Tipton and Shelby Counties
