Our Projects

An effective response to the nation’s transmission challenge requires the appropriate technology and the right projects. Clean Line is developing a portfolio of projects that have a similar, compelling rationale – the delivery of thousands of megawatts of renewable energy from the windiest areas of the United States to demand centers. These projects will make possible billions of dollars of investments in new renewable energy projects that cannot otherwise be built due to the limitations of the existing grid. These projects will bring about tremendous rural economic development, create thousands of permanent and construction jobs, and reduce carbon emissions by millions of tons. In addition, the projects will incentivize manufacturing of wind turbines and components and enable significant financial contribution to local communities through employment opportunities, property taxes and landowner royalties. State and local governments can use these additional tax revenues to stimulate improvements and enhancements to local school districts and hospitals and to support other local community needs.

Clean Line will sell transmission capacity to renewable energy generators and to the buyers of the power from these wind energy projects. Clean Line’s independence from existing or planned generation and from load-serving utilities permits a single-minded focus on meeting the needs of the projects’ many stakeholders through a transparent development effort.

Successful project development requires substantial and widespread participation from a diverse group of entities and stakeholders. Clean Line strives to establish and maintain close working relationships with landowners, communities, state officials, customers and suppliers and deeply values stakeholder input and involvement.
