Director
Cary manages the development of the Rock Island Clean Line Project, a high voltage direct current transmission line that will deliver 3,500 megawatts of clean wind power from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota to communities in Illinois and other states to the east. In this role, Cary works to integrate public interest, regulatory considerations, engineering constraints and environmental concerns to strategically develop the transmission line project. Cary oversees Rock Island Clean Line’s local, state, and federal permitting process and negotiates agreements with contractors and project vendors. In addition to managing the Rock Island Clean Line transmission project, Cary also works on Clean Line’s commercial arrangements and advises on business development issues and corporate strategy.
Prior to joining Clean Line, Cary worked as a corporate attorney for Vinson & Elkins in Houston, Texas, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, project development and private equity investments. Cary earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rice University, and a Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law. Cary is a director and founding member of Empower Nepali Girls, a non-profit foundation that provides educational opportunities to neglected children in Nepal.
